Ommatidia LiDAR at AIVELA 2025 was a standout moment for innovation in optical diagnostics and structural health monitoring. The 16th AIVELA Conference took place in Ancona, Italy, from June 24–26. It brought together experts in vibrometry, modal analysis, and non-contact measurement systems.
Our team demonstrated the Q2 Laser RADAR live, alongside a technical talk that highlighted its capabilities. The results were clear: Q2 impressed participants from academia and industry alike.
Ommatidia LiDAR at AIVELA: A Successful Live Demo of Q2 Laser RADAR

The live demo of the Q2 Laser RADAR was one of the event’s key attractions. It showed how structural vibration data can be captured across large surfaces — without using reflectors, scaffolding, or scanning devices.
Moreover, the system ran in real time and delivered thousands of points per second. Its compact design and ease of setup caught the attention of engineers working in aerospace, automotive, and civil infrastructure.
Q2 features demonstrated at AIVELA included:
-
High-speed parallel acquisition: 65 to 13,000 points/second
-
Dual-mode sensing: Measures distance and velocity at the same time
-
Rugged and portable: Less than 7 kg, with GPS and cloud integration
-
No setup hassle: No surface prep or contact needed
As a result, the Q2 makes vibration analysis faster, more reliable, and much easier to deploy in the field.
Alongside the demo, Ommatidia LiDAR at AIVELA featured a talk titled “High-Speed 3D Vibrometry for Industrial Modal Analysis.” It was delivered by Gregory Pandraud, who explained how the Q2 solves problems faced by engineers using traditional systems.
Furthermore, the Q2 is powered by a Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC). This technology enables true parallel laser acquisition, something not found in other systems today.
Oscar Enríquez, Ph.D., ran the demo booth and showed how Q2 works straight out of the case. With support from ATELIER 8.0, users get real-time visual feedback and easy data integration.

Ommatidia LiDAR at AIVELA: Structural Health Monitoring Applications
Ommatidia LiDAR at AIVELA also emphasized how Q2 supports a wide range of real-world testing needs. Its use in Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is already helping industries improve safety and reduce costs.
For example, Q2 is ideal for:
-
🏗️ Civil Engineering: Monitoring bridges, tunnels, and building panels
-
🛫 Aerospace: Diagnosing panels, wings, and turbine parts for fatigue
-
🚗 Automotive: Supporting NVH testing on doors, motors, and EV components
-
⚡ Energy: Measuring vibration in wind towers and heavy infrastructure
In addition, the system captures both static and dynamic motion. This allows users to detect early signs of failure, like cracks or loosened joints, without stopping operations.
