Ommatidia Powers Innovative Research at The University of Texas at Austin.
Precise, advanced, contactless measurements.
Othman's testimony
We had a very positive experience with the Q2 Laser RADAR system. The delivery and setup process went smoothly, and the system was ready to use without major difficulties. The training was clear and helpful, allowing us to become familiar with the system and operate it with confidence.
One of the most notable aspects of the Q2 is its ability to measure up to 65 points simultaneously. This feature provides a clear advantage in scenarios where multiple measurement locations are required, improving efficiency compared to more traditional approaches. In addition, its compact and portable design makes it well suited for field applications.
The system provides accurate and reliable data, particularly for analyzing structural vibrations, which is valuable in our work. Overall, we are very satisfied with the system’s performance and usability.
Thank you for sharing the quote for the hinge and the quick release. I will consider them, soon.
Q2 Laser Radar System
University of Texas selects Ommatidia Technology
Ommatidia has completed the delivery and hands-on training of the Q2 Laser Radar system at The University of Texas in Austin (UT Austin).
This system will support experimental research requiring precise, repeatable, non-contact measurements.
During the training session, our team covered the full workflow for getting high-quality data quickly and consistently: system setup and verification, measurement planning, acquisition best practices, and practical guidance for integrating Q2 measurements into a typical experimental campaign.
The goal is to help the lab move from installation to results with minimal friction, while maintaining strong repeatability and traceability in the measurements.
We look forward to seeing the Q2 contribute to new experimental insights and faster iteration cycles, in advanced structural dynamics and wave-driven research.
About Dr. Oudghiri-Idrissi
NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) Award
In January 2025, the University of Austin announced that Dr. Oudghiri-Idrissi was receiving a NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) award with some collaborators, highlighting the ambition and real-world relevance of his research direction.
Dr. Othman Oudghiri-Idrissi, Assistant Professor in the Fariborz Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at the Cockrell School of Engineering, chose Ommatidia’s technology to advance his cutting-edge research.
His interests span wave mechanics, mechanical metamaterials, homogenization, and inverse problems. In addition, his work in in-space assembly and manufacturing and lunar infrastructure, highlights the importance of reliable experimental validation—an area where Ommatidia’s solutions provide critical support.
We are grateful to him and to The University of Austin team for their for their continued trust and collaboration.
